Football.1 Motion AI
Skeletal-Motion Rights & Rights-Cleared Football AI Datasets
A proposed permissioned framework through which participating clubs and players can contribute, govern and license provenance-verifiable skeletal / pose motion datasets for responsible AI development.
What We Mean by Skeletal-Motion Rights
“Skeletal-motion rights” are permissions associated with pose / skeletal motion data: joint positions, trajectories, gait, acceleration, turning, jumping, kicking mechanics and other structured movement representations.
Core Principle
Possession of player performance data does not automatically equal unrestricted authority to license that player’s motion for third-party AI training.
Football.1 Motion AI Trust Architecture
Football.1 provides canonical dataset identity and discovery. SafeAI.Football governs permitted purpose, authority, access, monitoring and revocation. Clubs contribute under defined rights, while player-specific permissions and economic participation are recorded rather than presumed.
Three Dataset Rights Classes
| Rights Class | Example | Proposed Treatment |
|---|---|---|
| Generic / De-identified Motion | Running, turning, jumping, kicking and positional sequences with identity controls | Permissioned club / programme dataset licence |
| Player-Attributable Motion | Movement linked to a named or identifiable player | Player + club rights framework and explicit permitted uses |
| Sensitive Performance / Biometric Layer | Gait templates, health or rehabilitation-related movement, identification-oriented processing | Enhanced restricted licence, privacy assessment and specialist governance |
Removing a name or shirt number does not by itself prove that detailed movement data is anonymous. Re-identification risk should be assessed and documented.
Dataset Safety Passport
Each Football.1 Motion AI dataset can carry a machine-readable rights and safety manifest analogous to the Agent Safety Passport.
| Canonical Dataset ID | Persistent Football.1 identity |
| Controller / Operator | Identified accountable organisations |
| Contributors | Club / player / approved contributor pool |
| Capture Context | Match / training / controlled motion capture |
| AI Training | Permitted / prohibited / conditional |
| Commercial Use | Permitted scope and revenue entitlement |
| Identification / Health Inference | Prohibited unless separately authorised and lawful |
| Synthetic Avatar / Digital Human | Separate permission |
| Territory / Term / Sublicensing | Defined contractual envelope |
| Withdrawal / Revocation | Defined technical and contractual procedure |
| Audit Status | SafeAI.Football monitoring and evidence trail |
SafeAI.Football Motion Data Authority Manifest
SafeAI.Football should govern purpose as well as access, preventing a dataset licensed for one football-AI purpose from silently migrating into unrelated uses.
Player Participation & Revenue Waterfall
Where player-attributable motion contributes to a commercial AI-training product, the programme can provide transparent economic participation rather than treating the player solely as a data source.
Percentages are intentionally not fixed. They should follow the relevant player, club, collective, employment, data-protection and commercial agreements.
Motion AI Dataset Exchange
Participating clubs could make rights-cleared datasets discoverable by approved developers without requiring a new technical integration for every dataset.
Safeguarding & Restricted Uses
Academy / minor-player commercial AI-training datasets should remain outside the initial commercial programme until a dedicated child-data, consent, safeguarding and contractual framework has been professionally designed. Health, rehabilitation and identification-oriented datasets should also sit behind enhanced controls.
Revenue Engine 9 — Motion AI Dataset Licensing
| Year | Illustrative Planning Assumption | Revenue |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1 | 2 pilot dataset programmes × £50k equivalent | £100k |
| Year 2 | 5 programmes × £70k equivalent | £350k |
| Year 3 | 10 scaled programmes × £90k equivalent | £900k |
| Three-Year Motion AI Dataset Licensing | £1.350m | |
Illustrative planning assumptions only. Dataset pricing, player / club revenue shares, rights-clearance costs and developer demand require validation through pilots.
